This project incorporated several functions in addition to the W Hotel and is served by a central energy centre. The environmental approach grouped all central plant in the basement, connected to 25 100m deep geothermal bore holes, a 380kW CHP, thermal store, two absorption chillers and two conventional chillers linked to a roof top cooling tower. Further technology included solar thermal panel to pre heat hot water to the upper level duplex apartments, solar PV (supplying internal corridor LED lighting) and air source heat pumps.
